The new year will hopefully mean plenty of new work for businesswomen in Staffordshire thanks to the launch of two new networking groups, designed to help local companies work together more closely.
Wings – Women’s Independent Networking Groups – was established in Cannock in 2004, but demand has seen new groups emerge in Bromsgrove, and now Lichfield and Stafford.
Like the other groups, the Stafford and Lichfield branches will offer a unique kind of networking for businesswomen, which aims to be supportive as well as lucrative for all concerned.
Andrea Bradley, who will initially run the new groups until members have enough experience to take over, said there has been a great demand in these areas for the groups, and the pre-launch events were a big success.
“We had around 20 visitors attend each pre-launch event, many of whom went on to become members immediately, and we are hoping to welcome many more new faces at our inaugural meetings,” said Ms Bradley, who is a senior team leader with Utility Warehouse, and a success coach.
“Networking works at its best when we have a large number of people from a diverse range of businesses, and already, we have quite a range, including an accountant, an optician, a solicitor, a graphic designer and a cake maker.
“The success of Wings has been built on the fact that business is important, but we recognise that it does not have to be all work, work, work – we also encourage and support members, and offer them a chance to share ideas, and build friendships, which in turn, makes the group stronger,” she added.
The new groups will meet twice a month at The Stone House Hotel, just off the A34 near Stone (Stafford group) andThe Bowling Green Inn, Friary Road Lichfield. The meetings start at 10.15am, and there’s a £15 charge for guests, which includes lunch.
