A young singer from Great Wyrley is dreaming
of hitting the big time after making it through to the regional finals of a
national talent competition.
through the audition rounds of Open Mic UK 2011.
The former Great Wyrley High School
pupil will be hoping to win a place in the national final of the competition,
which is looking for the UK’s best singers, rappers and vocalists, from all
genres.
If successful, Holly could be heading
to the 02 in London and the chance to grab a breakthrough recording contract.
Holly will be performing live
alongside the best talent in the area, in front of hundreds of audience members
and a professional judging panel.
Chris Grayston, head of Future Music,
said thousands of hopefuls had entered the competition nationally, and a very
high standard has already been set.
“We are searching for an act whose
live performance will impress an audience, industry judges and A&R associates,
and who has the potential to become a professional recording artist,” he said.
“The standard was high last year and
this year looks set to be even better.”
Holly, who made it through to the Boot
Camp stage of the last series of X-Factor, will be competing in the 17-22 age
category.
There's over £50, 000 in prizes up for
grabs this year and the overall winner of Open Mic UK2011 will be offered a
recording contract, with up to £30, 000 investment, and the chance to tour the
UK.
