Being a family orientated business ourselves, we love working with our client and sponsor of www.havealovelytime.com Musical Minis, and we are delighted to announce that there are two new franchisees now on board.
Jo Johnston and Gill Turcan are now running classes in Gloucestershire and South East Dorset respectively, and founder of Musical Minis Karen Sherr is thrilled to welcome them to the team and both ladies are very excited about becoming the latest franchisees to join this.
Jo, who has three young children herself, aged 12, 11 and 8, had been looking for a career that would continue to fit around her family life. She’s been involved with her local playgroup for the past nine years as a parent, committee member, volunteer, employee and as manager for the last two years.
Jo also worked with babies at a local nursery and toddler group as part of her university course in early years. “I have always enjoyed working with children, and am relishing the prospect of running the groups, which will not only be fun for everyone involved, but will help the children’s development too"
Gill, who was until recently a practice nurse, has worked extensively with children in the past, had been looking for a career that would be more flexible, and the chance to run her own business. She’s previously been a primary school nurse, a teaching assistant in a special needs role, and worked in various playgroups when her own children were younger.
“I have already received a number of enquiries from parents, who recognise the benefits of this interactive programme, and are keen to attend sessions"
The Musical Minis programme was founded in 1989 by Karen Sherr, who had been a Play Specialist at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, and Patricia Elson a nursery school head teacher.
The groups offer a fun introduction to music, and have already helped thousands of children up and down the country to develop listening and communication skills through music.
Karen explains; “The interactive programme, which uses a variety of songs, music, instruments and puppets, is structured to help babies, toddlers and children improve their co-ordination, enhance their listening skills as well as develop their social and communication skills”.
“But equally as importantly, fun, fun and more fun is what Musical Minis is all about. Sessions are structured in such a way that encourages children to discover sounds, explore instruments, mimic actions and learn to share and make friends in a relaxed group setting.”
