WE'RE delighted to report that our mental health blog Speaking up, breaking the silence has won the Inspirational category in the Brilliance in Blogging awards.
This week there was a tweet-up to announce the winners and there we were. This post from the British Mummy Bloggers network listed all those who emerged victorious.
We shared top spot in the inspirational category with Sleep is for the Weak and Pinchy Pants. Both of these bloggers write so beautifully and movingly so it was an honour to be in their company.
Our site was described as an 'absolute lifeline' for anyone with mental health problems. The organisers of the awards said of the winners in the inspirational category:
They provided uplifting stories and insight and told their personal stories in a way that buoyed our spirits.
Writing about the finalists in our category as voting on a shortlist out of 400 entries began, the BMB blog said:
Bloggers can inspire us in many ways: with descriptions of their struggles and the solutions they find, with encouraging words for others, with tips for coping and with their humanity. These bloggers inspire their readers in a variety of ways but all of them leave us with a sense of being uplifted.
Thanks to everyone who voted, who has contributed, commented on or read Speaking up, breaking the silence.
