BUSINESSES in the Black Country are fighting back against economic doom and gloom with an action-packed day to generate £1 million of work for companies attending.
The Black Country Grow Your Business Day is due to be held at The Copthorne Hotel in Merry Hill on Tuesday, February 1, welcoming key successful speakers from the world of commerce. Organisers say the opportunities for business on the day come from the way the event is structured to help those attending gain a maximum impact on their bottom line.
The day is open to networking groups across the region as well as individuals such as company directors, entrepreneurs and marketing managers.
The regional network of Business Network International (BNI) which holds breakfast business meetings has joined forces with the Black Country Chamber of Commerce to support the event which has been scheduled to launch International Networking Week which follows on February 7.
Michele Green, area director of BNI in the Black Country said: “In business we are often bombarded with opportunities to network with other business people. “Networking is an overused word these days, but if used properly networking can be the key to unlocking tremendous new business.
“The Black Country Grow Your Business Day is structured to give the tools to every business in the room to network effectively and give them the time to use those tools. We aim to generate more than £1 million of business on the day.
“This is not an empty promise. Practical help provided on the day of the event will be geared to helping businesses attending to walk away with secure interest in their services, showing them how to network effectively and clinch that deal.”
Speakers include Cheshire-based Ewan Sturman who is a leading UK trainer helping companies gain more business from people they already know. He has joined forces with fellow speaker Iain Whyte, known as ‘Big Man Talking’ to produce a CD which is included in the ticket price for the day.
Scots-born Iain is renowned for motivating business owners and has worked with directors from across the world. Although Michele has been at the forefront of organising and promoting the Grow Your Business Day in her BNI role, she said she was keen to stress this event was open to everyone, including other networking groups and individuals.
“We want to join forces with other networking groups and companies who have the capacity for more work to make this day a resounding success. This is a really exciting opportunity for new business,” she said.
“The £1 million figure has not been plucked out of the air but is a realistic evaluation of what’s possible given the calibre and breadth of businesses to be represented at this event.
“At just £60 for a place at the Grow Your Business Day, this is outstanding value and it’s great to see the places being booked and interest from companies. “We know time is money but this is one day away from the office or shop floor, you can’t afford to miss.”
