WE are delighted with the results of Compton Hospice's new DVD, and well done to Matt Daniels for all his hard work on the project.
The 12 minute DVD focuses on the many different services provided by the hospice, from people receiving care and support through an illness, to a young boy trying to understand the loss of his mum.
It shows patients and families talking about how they came to the hospice with an image of what it was, only to have their expectations turned on their head.
The DVD was filmed, edited and produced by Matt Daniels, and is the culmination of six months of hard work.
The shorter version above has also been uploaded onto YouTube, and already been viewed more than 70 times.
“I hope the DVD will help people just coming to need the services of a hospice, helping them realise what a fantastic place this is,” explained Jackie Wellings, who appears on the DVD along with her mum, Mary. “And I hope also that it makes people in this area realise what a fabulous facility they have on their doorsteps.
“It would be great if it encouraged people in Wolverhampton to get involved, and offer as much support as they can. It is amazing once you have seen it in action to believe that somewhere like Compton Hospice is not centrally funded by Government health service provision as an essential health service.”
Sue Chance, head of Compton's PR, said she had been touched by the wonderful things each person had said about Compton, and so grafeful for their help.
“We set about making the DVD for many reasons – to help fundraising, to educate people about the work of the hospice, and of course, to offer some reassurance to people about to enter palliative care," she said.
“We hoped that by using real people, talking about real experiences, and the many different service we offer, it would help dispel some of the myths surrounding hospice care.
“One message that certainly does come across loud and clear is just how special Compton is to the people using its services, and we must send a great thank you to them for speaking in such honest and moving terms about their experiences, and also to Matt for his wonderful work” she added.
