PEOPLE buying goods on-line from high street stores can help raise cash for Compton Hospice by doing it through the charity’s brand-new website
It's brilliant to see all the hard work on the site pay off with a new look that's easy to navigate and makes donating online so much easier too.
The site, which went live this week, makes it easier for people to donate both directly and indirectly, which it is hoped will increase the amount of donations which are essential to keeping the hospice running.
Sue Chance, head of Compton’s fundraising, trading and PR, explained that one of the great new features of the site is that people buying goods on-line from stores such as Boots, Marks & Spencer and Next, can use a link on the Compton site to do this, and help to raise money at no extra cost to themselves.
“The hospice will receive a percentage of the value of your spend, without it costing you a penny, if you use our third party offers link to access the site you want to shop on,” she said.
“We have also improved our own online shop, where as well as being able to buy things such as cards and stationery, you can also purchase virtual gifts.
“So for example, instead of giving a friend a traditional Christmas present, you can buy “sherry and mince pies” for one of our patients, and your friend and yourself receive cards to thank you for your support , and explaining how you are helping us.
“The website also makes it much easier for people to donate directly, to take part in our lottery, and find out about all the fund-raising activities we have, and join them.”
The new site is much more detailed, with informative pages on the various services Compton Hospice has to offer, an easier “contact us” system and a much more up-beat and modern look.
“Having celebrated our 25th anniversary last year, the new site is a great symbol of our future, and helps to take the hospice forward into the next era,” said Mrs Chance.
“We hope everyone visiting it will enjoy seeing what Compton is about and perhaps even be persuaded to volunteer. All of our volunteers play an essential role, and their gift of time is valued as highly as any cash donation,” she added.
