THANKS to everyone at the Novotel Wolverhampton for a great night on Friday as we all turned super sleuth to help celebrate their £350,000 facelift.
More than 100 people attended the event - and a good night was had by all.
The murder mystery drama certainly broke the ice, not to mention made me jump as shots were fired, and got everyone chatting to create a very lively atmosphere.
Novotel Wolverhampton's Matt Ward is pictured being held to ransom by members of the Murder Sleuths cast. But who actually did murder the man whose 'body' was found near the hotel? I never did quite work that one out.
But I did manage to win a weekend stay in the Novotel Greenwich in the prize draw which raised more than £300 for Compton Hospice and Plan International.
The plush new surroundings at the hotel in Union Street includes the refurbishment of 44 bedrooms and the launch of new conference facilities which will give delegates access to a Nintendo Wii and improved conference facilities.
The work is the second stage of a refurbishment programme which has already seen extensive improvements to the banqueting suite, customer lounge and restaurant.
Manager Matt Ward said: “We wanted to show the guests how versatile the hotel’s facilities are and also give them a re-launch night with a difference, something to remember and the murder mystery actors certainly made sure that was the case.
“It was a great night as we showed off the new facilities and we were delighted by the reaction of our guests.
“We hope this level of customer care will mean the Novotel becomes the place to do business in Wolverhampton.
Matt, who is also chairman of the Black Country Hotels Association, added: “With the recent announcement of nearly £300m of government regeneration money due to be spent in the region we hope the city will be able to cash in.
“That’s why we are delighted that our facilities are on a par with anything offered in London and Birmingham and we look forward to welcoming new guests as well as those who return to us.”
Barbara Kay, head of development and tourism for Wolverhampton City Council who attended the event, said: “I think this is just what the city needs, more upmarket places to stay for our business people and visitors.
“People expect a lot higher quality venues and the high standard being offered by Novotel means more people will come to the city.
“The more facilities we’ve got the more people take notice of us and we’ll get visitors to the city as a result, that means more money spent on the city.” [Neil]
