ENGLAND World Cup hero Nobby Stiles is set to wow an audience with tales of his footballing prowess at an event to raise money for Compton Hospice.
The former Man Utd ace will entertain guests at a sportsman’s dinner at Wolverhampton’s Goodyear Pavilion on July 10.
Best known for his gap-toothed smile and celebratory dance in the 1966 World Cup final, Nobby is now a leading after dinner speaker whose exploits as a true ‘hard man’ of the game keep listeners spell-bound.
His skills also allowed George Best and Bobby Charlton to develop their flair.
Simon Cater from Compton Hospice said that this was the first time they’d organised a sportsman’s dinner and that the team was delighted to have secured a speaker of Nobby’s stature.
Also on the bill is former Warwickshire and Leicestershire cricketer Charlie Dagnall who is a now a BBC radio presenter.
Guests can enjoy a three course dinner and Compton is particularly keen to hear from businesses and other organisations who can support their vital services by booking a table of 10.
Smaller groups at the event, which begins at 7pm, can also be catered for.
Simon said: “We are really excited to welcome Nobby – he’s such a well-respected and loved figure in English sporting history and a fantastic speaker."
